Two Companies with 9 Openings are being established with the support of EU in the Wool Value Chain in Shirak

The project is co-financed by the European Union and the Government of the Republic of Armenia and implemented by People in Need international organization.
The founders of the two newly established companies took financial and marketing planning courses. Later within the framework of EU co-financed “EU4Shirak: Wool for Jobs” project received a grant to run their businesses by purchasing products of the Amasia Wool Factory, thus expanding the wool value chain in Shirak.
Mane Gevorgyan, who represents one of the newly established companies, tells that production of cradle pads, pillows for pregnant women, feeding pillows and orthopedic mattresses will be produced by using natural wool of the Amasia Wool Factory. Due to Amasia Wool Factory raw material the products ensure comfort for the pregnant women thus reducing their backpain.
Mariam Harutyunyan’s company is also going to use the products of the factory. She is planning start a production of machine-made wool mattresses, blankets, linen for children and adults as well as other bedding.
The Amasia Wool Factory was officially put into operation on July 19, 2019. Thanks to this project, 19 specialists were trained and are currently employed at the factory.
In October, 2019 four other companies were founded in the wool value chain. They also produce various wool products, overall creating 25 new job places.
“EU4Shirak: Wool for Jobs” project was launched in 2018 and will continue until 2020. It is co-funded by the European Union and the Government of Armenia and implemented by People in Need NGO, together with Women's Development "Resource Center" Foundation, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Shirak Region, and Amasia Municipality.
